The Puerto Rico Queen Conch Hatchery is located at the Naguabo Fishing Association on the Húcares Beach, Malecon de Naguabo. This project is a partnership between the Queen Conch Lab, FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute; Conservación ConCiencia; and the Naguabo Fishing Association. It is supported with a Saltonstall-Kennedy NOAA Fisheries Grant (Award NA19NMF4270029).
Follow along as we prepare the hatchery space, build the aquaculture systems, and raise our first generation of queen conch. We will share photos and updates on this page.

The yellow building on the shore is the Naguabo Fishing Association at Húcares Beach.
The inside of our hatchery is divided into five sections, each with its own purpose. In this space, we grow queen conch from egg mass to metamorphosis. We also culture microalgae to feed the conch. We use microscopes daily to assess their health and development along with their dietary needs.
